COUNTY PARKS Lake Meyer Park This 160-acre park is the site of Conservation Board headquarters. It is located off of Hwy 24 on Lake Meyer Road between Calmar and Fort Atkinson. The lake covers 38 acres and offers fishing from the banks and several docks, as well as by boat (electric motors only). Swimming in the lake is not permitted. Modern camping is available. For daily visitors, the park offers flush and pit toilets, hiking and cross country skiing trails, ball diamond, picnic shelters, playground, and a nature center. Kendallville Park On Hwy 139 in Kendallville, this 15-acre park provides access to the Upper Iowa River for canoeing and fishing. The park has 2 driveways, one on each side of the bridge. Modern camping is available. The park offers pit and flush toilets, picnic shelter, ball diamond, and playground for daily visitors who are not interested in camping. Trout Run Park This 6-acre park is located on the east edge of Decorah on Hwy 9. At this park, Trout Run Stream enters the Upper Iowa River. Access to the river for fishing and canoeing are available here, as well as shelters for picnicking. The park is also the home of a historic bowstring bridge, one of the largest bridges of its kind in Iowa. The bridge is 156 feet in length and was constructed in 1879 by the Wrought Iron Bridge Company of Canton, Ohio. Silver Springs Park This park is located on the south edge of Ossian on County Road W42 and was once the site of an old creamery. This 10-acre park contains a 2-acre pond that is excellent for fishing. Picnic areas (no shelter) and pit toilets are also available there. A modern, public ball diamond that is used by many area ball clubs is located on park grounds.

Smallest Church Park Located west of Festina and a short drive from either Hwy 150 or County Road W14, this 1-acre park lies adjacent to the famous "Smallest Church." The park offers access to the Turkey River for both canoeing and fishing. There is also a small picnic area available. Chimney Rock Park This 17-acre park offers access to the Upper Iowa River for both canoeing and fishing. It is located north of Bluffton, off of Bluffton Road on Chimney Rock Road. Primitive camping is allowed, and pit toilets are available. Just upstream from this park, you can see the scenic "Chimney Rock" limestone formations. Chattahoochie Park Located on the northwest edge of Decorah, on Hwy 52, this 27-acre park offers a picnic shelter and access to the Upper Iowa River for both fishing and canoeing. Ridgeway Park This 5-acre park is located on the east edge of Ridgeway on Hwy 9. It is an access point for the Prairie Farmer Recreational Trail, which runs right through the park. Besides biking, the park offers a picnic shelter, playground, pit toilets, and cross country skiing. Ludwig Park Located west of Spillville on County Road B16, this 20-acre park has access to Bohemian Creek - an excellent trout fishing stream. There is also a picnic shelter and opportunities for hiking and cross country skiing. |

Ludwig Preserve For those of you interested in prairies, Ludwig Preserve is just 1.5 miles from Spillville (west on 183rd St, then south on 293rd Ave). The scenic, 3.5-acre preserve contains native upland prairie with several limestone outcrops. South Bear Park Located just off of County Road A24, near Highlandville, this 38-acre park offers pit toilets, a picnic shelter, hiking, access to fishing, and primitive camping. Trout fishing is very popular on South Bear Creek. Freeport Park Located in Freeport, this 4-acre park provides a picnic shelter, ball diamond, and playground. Moe Park Located between Decorah and Waukon on Old Stage Road, this 40-acre park offers a picnic area (no shelter), playground, ball diamond, and pit toilets. Frankville Park This 1-acre park is the home of the Old Frankville Stone School and is located in Frankville. The park offers pit toilets, ball diamond, playground, and picnic shelter. The school was originally constructed in 1872 and closed in 1962. In 1978 the building was officially entered in the National Register of Historic Places. Hwy 52 Surplus Located to the east of Hwy 52 near Decorah, this 10-acre property is best accessed through Decorah's Will Baker Park (Pulpit Rock).
